NEW UPDATE July 2010 signed on as Chief Operating Officer for Omni Industries, LLC the parent company
of CarbonCopyPRO. THE best marketing education system I have found to date.
I majored in photography in college and then went into retail
sales (cameras) as a youngster. When my wife and I got married, we went to
Hawaii
for our honeymoon and have been back several times
since. (Looking forward to our next trip sometime this year.)
I have owned my
own School Photography business, and sold Apple computers to the same school
districts, then made my transition into selling computers full time. I was part
owner in a computer store and sold my interest to move to
California
and run an Apple hard drive division for CMS
Enhancements, in Tustin.
There I took my division from $30 million in
sales to over $60 million and would have stayed there, if not for my wife’s
mothers illness. Once back in
Utah
I have ridden the roller coaster of companies,
most fun was a small company called IRAD, where we created animated ride films
for location based entertainment. I also really
enjoyed my time as a producer for Acclaim studios where I managed my teams for
the first on time deliveries of two titles selling over 600,000 copies. I was
looking forward to working there till retirement, but the company which had their
main office in NY went away. (OK crashed and burned, beyond my control as a
producer cog, in very big $400 million+ company.) Being over 4o
at the time, I found it difficult to find such cool employment again and worked
with friends to start our own video game company… did not get the funding we
were working for from an outside firm, and after spending way too much of
my own money, I finally gave up… and decided I could sell new cars to my
contacts in the education sector so applied with a local company that promised
a draw against commission and some autonomy to accomplish my 6 figure goals.
But after having to pee in a cup and pass a drug test, and get fingerprinted
for the first time in my life… they did not want to sign anything that guaranteed
my draw and decided it was now straight commission, on the second day. (I got
to cash a $38 check from that experience.)At that point I
decided I was on my own and real estate seemed a good way to create some quick
and reproducible income. I did some deals and had some success amassing over $4
million in holdings… but “you can’t eat equity” so I purchased a
Gas Station/Convenience store… I won’t go into the messy details, so I’ll
just say the owners really were not ready to sell and I paid my attorney $1,000
and gave the whole thing back. I had a partner
in the real estate business who had done some dabbling in the internet
marketing space and we were making a little over $1,000 in recurring income
from his efforts, and I asked how many sites we were using to create that (I knew
he had registered over 150 domain names) he was doing that with just 10 of
those, so I went back into production mode and started generating sites with
the software he had purchased. (We were creating content sites that paid us if
someone clicked on a google ad located on our site.) The software had some
drawbacks for a major effort so my partner and I designed and he implemented
a server based system to create them more quickly and efficiently. Now the game
was on, we did very well and even helped others use our system to create
income. (One team was two guys that were nurses, one did not even own a
computer at the time, and we helped them make over $70,000 in less than 3
months) Then the dreaded Google Slap… everyone making these kinds of
sites was cleared out by Google and the revenue dried up. I’ll come back later
and update this with what I am doing now, pays much better and is immune to
Google’s whims.
